Teacher and Student Information: The Illinois Heartland Decorative Artists, a local chapter affiliated with the National Society of Decorative Painters, has established a First Place $1000 scholarship, and a Second Place $500 scholarship for a graduating senior who will attend an accredited art program following high school graduation. This money will be provided directly to the college they will be attending for tuition and fees in two installments, one installment each semester of their freshman year. IHDA will also award $250 of art supplies to the First Place student's high school Art Department to further Art Education. SECOND place student's high school Art Department will receive $125 of art supplies.

The student will need to complete sections:

  1. Student and High School Information

  2. Academic Record (see below)

  3. College Choices

  4. Art Awards Won

  5. Essay

  6. Description of Art Work in Photos as well as sign the form.

For Academic Record: We ask that the student then give the application to their school administrators so section II (Academic Record), can be completed and signed by the appropriate individual. In addition, a letter of recommendation for each student applying for the scholarship is also required. Without this letter of recommendation, the application will be considered incomplete and ineligible to compete for the scholarship. You are encouraged to include 6 to 10 photos of artwork which has been completed within the past four years. Photos should include examples of various art media. These photos along with the application are the student’s voice to the selection committee. ** NO SLIDES OR CD’S ARE ACCEPTED **
